PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Rehabilitation of the historic Standard Building in downtown Cleveland converted the former office tower to house 281 apartments, along with ground-level retail space. The building’s terra cotta façades were restored, and the entire cornice was replaced in fiberglass to match seamlessly with the preserved terra cotta. On the interior, historic marble floors and walls were retained and historic circulation patterns restored, with the former offices transformed into open, contemporary apartments. The central portion of the original 2-story bank hall was restored to its full height, removing an infill floor added in the 1950s to create a dramatic skylit community space.
